In May 2025, the MIHARI Network organized a national coordination meeting marked by the official launch of Madagascar’s LMMA Portal. This digital platform aims to centralize data on Locally Managed Marine Areas (LMMAs), thus facilitating the monitoring and evaluation of marine management initiatives and enhancing the visibility of community efforts in marine conservation, both at national and regional levels.
This new tool is in line with the commitments made at the National LMMA Forum 2024 in Mahajanga, and aligns with the regional objectives of the LMMA Forum in the WIO region. The LMMA Portal illustrates MIHARI’s commitment to strengthening transparency, accessibility to information and community involvement in marine conservation. The MIHARI Network encourages all stakeholders to make the LMMA Portal their own, as a symbol of collective commitment to the sustainable and inclusive management of marine resources
