Djahere: Portrait of a Committed Young Coastal Advocate

Meet Djahere, a passionate young environmental advocate with roots in both Comoros and Madagascar. Djahere’s dedication to environmental education led him to participate in the RECOS Exchange of Experiences Programme, which provided him the opportunity to visit St Leu, Reunion Island, in February 2024. There, he immersed himself in learning about the “Aire marine educative – AME” (Educative Marine Area) concept.

Inspired by his experience, Djahere is now actively working on establishing an AME in Toliara, Madagascar. His commitment to fostering environmental awareness and education among coastal communities is truly inspiring.

The RECOS Exchange Programme offers opportunities for coastal stakeholders across the Western Indian Ocean region to gain valuable insights and knowledge. If you’re interested in participating, please contact Elisa Piat at elisa.piat@coi-ioc.org.
