The Marine Regions Forum 2023, held under the theme “Navigating Ocean Sustainability in the Western Indian Ocean and Beyond,” served as a pivotal gathering for ocean actors and experts to address the challenges facing the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region. Hosted in Dar es Salaam by the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Seychelles, this conference marked a significant opportunity to reconnect in person following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
