The Varuna Biodiversity Programme, spearheaded by Expertise France and coordinated by Réserves Naturelles de France, has announced the launch of its 2nd call for companionship/tutorship and microprojects. This initiative aims to foster collaborative efforts and support stakeholders engaged in the management of marine areas in the south-western Indian Ocean (SWIO) region.

Who Can Apply?

If you’re a manager or stakeholder involved in the management of a Marine Protected Area (MPA), Locally Managed Marine Area (LMMA), or Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA), this call is for you! Whether you operate in the Union of the Comoros, France (Mayotte, Réunion, Eparses Islands), Mauritius (Mauritius and Rodrigues), Madagascar, or Seychelles, you’re eligible to apply and contribute to marine conservation efforts.

Themes and Focus Areas

The scope of the calls encompasses various themes related to the operation and management of marine areas. Whether it’s enhancing monitoring techniques, developing sustainable tourism initiatives, or implementing community-based conservation strategies, projects that contribute to building skills and knowledge for better biodiversity management are welcome.

Dans le cadre du programme Varuna Biodiversité coordonné par Expertise France, Réserves Naturelles de France lance son 2e appel à compagnonnage et au tutorat, ainsi qu’aux microprojets d’intérêt collectif à destination des gestionnaires et acteurs impliqués dans la gestion des aires marines de la région Océan Indien Occidental (OIO).

Le but de ces appels ? Encourager des efforts coordonner de conservation de la biodiversité dans la région.

A qui est-ce destiné ? Tout gestionnaire d’une aire marine ou acteur impliqué dans la gestion d’une Aire Marine Protégée – AMP, Aire Marine Localement Gérée – LMMA, Aire Marine de Conservation Volontaire – VMCA de l’OIO peuvent candidater.

Territoires éligibles pour candidater : Union des Comores, France (Mayotte, La Réunion, les Iles Eparses), Maurice (Ile Maurice et Ile Rodrigues), Madagascar et les Seychelles.

Sur quelle thématique ? Dans tous les domaines en lien avec le fonctionnement et la gestion d’une aire marine et qui contribuent à l’acquisition d’une compétence ou connaissance pour améliorer la gestion et la préservation de la biodiversité au sein de l’aire marine.
