Exclusive Training Opportunity: Sustainable Financing for Marine Protected Areas in the Southwest Indian Ocean

Greetings to all marine conservation practitioners in the Southwest Indian Ocean region!

We are thrilled to announce an exciting training opportunity as part of the Varuna_AMP project, organized by Réserves naturel de France in collaboration with Blueseeds. This initiative aims to provide training on sustainable financing mechanisms for protected and conserved marine areas, contributing to the long-term conservation and management of our precious ocean ecosystems.

Background and Objectives

This training initiative is a continuation of the regional action plan developed during the Nosy Be workshop in March 2023. It seeks to build on the discussions and exchanges among partners to enhance the capacity of marine protected area practitioners in the Southwest Indian Ocean region. By equipping participants with knowledge and skills in sustainable financing, the training aims to support the effective management and conservation of marine biodiversity.

Who Can Participate?

The training is exclusively reserved for practitioners of marine protected and conserved areas in the Southwest Indian Ocean region, including the Union of Comoros, Mayotte, Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rodrigues Island, Reunion, and TAAF.

Training Details

  • Dates: October 1 to 4, 2024
  • Location: Mayotte
  • Cost: All expenses related to the training, including travel and accommodation, will be covered by Réserves Naturelles de France as part of the Varuna program.

Limited Availability

We aim to support the participation of 15 individuals in this training. Therefore, we encourage interested candidates to apply early to secure their spot.
