The Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences ( IH.SM ) is a research and higher education institute in the field of marine sciences , fisheries and aquaculture , and the marine and coastal environment .
It was created in 1992 at the University of Toliara in Madagascar following the merger of three entities: the marine station, the “Applied Oceanology” sector and the higher fisheries training unit
