Senior Community Conservation Warden – Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve System<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is Magreth Mchome, working as a Marine Conservation Warden at Marine Parks and Reserve Unit. I have over 14 years working experience in Marine Protected Areas where I have been engaged in resource monitoring and community engagement in management of MPAs and recently I have been working at the head office engaged with management activities on marine conservation which includes planning, budgeting and reporting conservation activities in MPAs within Marine Parks and Reserve Unit. I attended WIO-COMPAS certification level 2 assessment conducted in Mombasa Kenya in November, 2018 and certified as MPA professional.<\/p>\n

The MPAs Pro helped me by exposing me to different competency areas which helped me a lot especially after my transition from field work activities to management activities. The program allows the assessor to see my personal capacity and advised accordingly. Generally it has helped me to improve my working performance, expose me to ideas outside my comfort zone and advice me on areas to work on to improve my capacity at work.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n

The understanding of MPA concepts strengthened ability to encounter management challenges that face my MPA. As MPA profession I have been involved in monitoring of biophysical resources in my MPA these include: benthic Monitoring in Tanzania Marine Parks and Reserves, fish catch and beach trash monitoring. In addition I have Collaborating with researchers to undertake research in and outside my MPA. These have been providing information to realize the management effectiveness of the MPA. I have been sharing my expertise on MPA management to my colleagues to effect my MPA.<\/p>\n

Since the certification, I have been entrusted by the board of trustees for Marine Park and Reserves to be as a \u00a0Warden In Charge \u00a0in two MPAs which are Mafia Island Marine Park and currently at Tanga Coelacanth Marine Park.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n
